When they have that long of a r&d phase planned I believe it's more of a dream than vapor ware. They're also a bit more realistic with that timeline than most vapor ware.

I think the vaporware got attached when popular science and a few other really pushed the transportation avenue. Concord was obscenely expensive and a one off high-speed air/spacecraft i would also imagine to be.

Possibly my favourite aspect of the entire Skylon design is that it mostly looks like something that Gerry Anderson could’ve come up with, some sort of fusion between Fireflash and Thunderbird 1.
